La Union for Introverts (and extroverts too)
The first quarter of 2023 is over. Can you believe that? Work (for me and V) and school (for Isa) have occupied most of our time in the past 3 months so we were in dire need of salt water. We, of course, had no plans to join the exodus of people who were expected to go out of Metro Manila during the long holy week break so we decided to take the trip a few days before the start of the holiday. I've been to La Union once for dive work and this was my first trip to the place for vacation.
We stayed in a beautiful AirBnB called The Sea Change La Union. Please pardon the crappy photos. I took them for memories and had no plans of posting this here. Hence, they definitely do not do justice. The place is beautiful, well-lit with natural light <3, and has all the basic necessities for your stay. We will definitely stay here again. In case you're interested, the link to their AirBnB is here.
The Sea Change is located 5 minutes away from Urbiztondo Beach. We loved that it was away from the crowd and it was just a 5-minute walk to the beach. And because it was not located in the main touristy section of town, the beachside was peaceful. No, it was not deserted. In fact, a lot of locals (school kids, mostly) would hang out there to watch the sunset. Which I think made it even better.
One morning, we walked to the market to buy fresh fruits and kakanin (sticky rice that we usually have for breakfast). Sweet, juicy, fresh manggoes at 150 pesos per kilo. Puto at 10 pesos each. Life is beautiful.
Almost every afternoon, we'd bring our foldable chairs and head out to the beach to watch the sunset and wait for the mango vendor to pass by. After the 4th day, Kuya eventually noticed and told us "andito pa pala kayo!". Haha.
Now I get why so many people from Manila come here. Life is unhurried in La Union if you know the right places. Fresh food is easily available in the market. And if you feel fancy, good restaurants are also a walk away. You can dress down or dress up. It will not matter. =)
Thank you for making it this far. As a writer, I feel so out of shape. As someone with a muscular system, I feel out of shape as well. lol. But that's for another story. Thanks again and I hope to see you soon!
